m1 carbine identification amco barrel band

The stock I`m pretty sure is to an M2 carbine it would confirm if there looks like a cut out is up by the receiver ring on the left side. From what I can tell the gun has been through an arsenal rebuild. The receiver is marked AO on the back which means a subcontracted on along with the barrel Being marked AO or Auto Ordinance. The barrel and receiver look correct for each other. Nice score on the IBM m1 carbine a little harder to find then some, all right let`s see if can help just a little. What looks like rust on the rear sight on the last picture is some sort of grease that I haven't gotten rid of yet. I apologize for the quality, I'm not a photographer. In the meantime, is there any markings I should be on the lookout for, and what can you guys tell me about it as it is?Īnd now for the pictures. I'll be identifying all the parts next weekend, as I'll be cleaning and generally checking it out.

It comes with two Union Hardware mags (U stamped on the back of the mag). The top of the scabbard is metal, the rest is plastic. The bayonet it came with has the M8A1 scabbard, and it says Made in W Germany. Any chance this might be one of those, or is it just refinished? I've also read that some stocks were unmarked. The stock has no cartouches on it, or any other markings (I haven't checked for markings when I took the stock off to check on the barrel's date of manufacturing, so I'll have to look for those the next time I take the stock off), so I don't know if there're any markings on the inside. I don't know the TE and ME figures, but the bore looks pristine. It's an IBM made in 03/1944, with the Auto Ordnance barrel from the same month (and, I believe, a correct one, since Auto Ordnance made barrels for IBM), everything on it is in a great condition. I'm in IT, so, naturally, the M1 carbine I just had to have was IBM.
